Container desiccants against moisture: desiccant bags as dehumidifiers for containers

In most cases, sources of moisture in containers are damp wooden pallets or high humidity. The moisture contained in the stored pallets and in the air can condense as so-called "container sweat" during several weeks of transport and damage the load and/or the packaging of the goods. Container desiccants bind the moisture, prevent condensation and condensation and thus prevent damage to pallets and cardboard packaging.

Desiccants are essential to prevent moisture damage during transport. Especially during long transport times in containers, condensed moisture can cause considerable damage to the loaded goods. Desiccant bags, also known as desiccant bags or dry bags, offer an effective solution for binding moisture and thus protecting the quality and integrity of the goods.

Desiccants therefore act as dehumidifiers for containers.

Properties and advantages of desiccants

APPLYING THE DESICCANT

Moisture generally always collects in the upper area of the sea container. For this reason, the desiccant for export packaging is attached to the top of the container (usually at the existing lashing points). The container desiccant has sturdy suspension hooks so thatthe desiccant can be inserted quickly and easily. The container desiccant is available in the form of chains for hanging in the container corrugations or as a blanket, which is placed on top of the goods.

Application instructions:

  • Attachment: Moisture collects at the top of the container, so desiccants should be placed at the top of the container. Use the existing lashing points for fastening.
  • Recommended quantity: 32-36 desiccant bags are recommended for a 20-foot container and 64-72 bags for a 40-foot container. This quantity ensures that the moisture is effectively controlled.
