Overview of aluminium clamping beams

The following aluminium clamping beams are available from us

Clamping beams play a central role in load securing, a critical area in the transport industry. They are used to secure loads during transport to prevent shifting, damage or accidents. Clamping beams are used in a variety of vehicles, including lorries, sprinters, vans and car trailers.

Important functions of clamping beams

Clamping beams, also known as load securing bars, are designed to fill the space between the load and the walls of the means of transport and thus securely hold the load in place. They can be made from various materials such as aluminium or steel and often have additional features such as rubber feet or tensioning mechanisms that provide better adhesion and flexibility.

Materials and designs:
  • Aluminium clamping beams: Lightweight, corrosion resistant and ideal for most transport needs. Often fitted with rubber feet to prevent damage to the load or vehicle.
  • Steel clamping beam: Offers greater strength and durability, suitable for heavier loads or more demanding environments.

Adjustability and adaptability

Modern clamping beams are often adjustable, meaning they can be customised in length to securely clamp different load sizes. This flexibility is particularly useful in vehicles with variable load space sizes, such as adjustable clamping beams for airline rails, which are widely used in the logistics industry.

Relevance of clamping beams in practiceThe

use of clamping beams is virtually essential in various transport environments to ensure load safety. They are particularly important in:
  • Lorries and larger vehicles: here they secure everything from pallets to irregularly shaped goods.
  • Vans and trailers: In these vehicles, they help to transport smaller loads safely, which is particularly important on long or rough journeys.
To summarise, clamping beams offer a robust solution for securing loads in a variety of means of transport. They are an essential tool in load securing, protecting not only the load, but also the means of transport and the safety of all involved.

Different types of

clamping

beamsClamping beams

are available in a variety of designs and specifications, making them suitable for different transport requirements and vehicle types. Here is an overview of the most common types and their applications.

Aluminium clamping beams:
  • Lightweight and robust: Aluminium is ideal for regular use as it offers strength and lightness, making it easier to handle.
  • Adjustability: Our clamping beams have a mechanism for length adjustment, which allows them to be used in different load compartment sizes.
  • Examples: Aluminium clamping beams with rubber feet are particularly popular as they offer additional protection against slipping and do not damage the load or the vehicle walls.
Steel clamping beams:
  • For heavy loads: Steel clamping beams are suitable for heavier loads due to their increased strength.
  • Durability: They offer a longer service life under tougher conditions and heavy use.
  • Areas of application: Often used in heavy industry and transport where extreme load capacity is required.
Technical specifications and selection criteria:

When selecting a clamping beam, technical specifications such as locking force and length adjustability are important in addition to the material. These properties determine how well the beam can secure the load:

  • Blocking force: Indicates how much pressure the beam can withstand, typically expressed in daN (decanewtons).
  • Length adjustability: Important for flexibility of use, as different loading surfaces require different sizes.
This information forms the basis for deciding which clamping beam is suitable for your specific needs, be it for commercial or private use, in light vehicles or in heavy lorries. In the next section, we will dive deeper into the applications and benefits of the different clamping beams to give you an even better understanding of their functionality.

Applications and benefits of clamping beamsClamping beams

are popular for their versatility and efficiency in load securing. Not only do they provide a robust solution for transport, but they also ensure that goods arrive safely and intact at their destination. The areas of application range from commercial to private transport tasks.

A wide range of applications:
  • Commercial transport: In the logistics sector, clamping beams are used to secure loads in lorries, containers and on trailers. They are particularly useful for transporting palletised goods, crates or other packaged goods that need to be stabilised.
  • Personal use: Clamping beams are also used in smaller vehicles such as vans or car trailers to securely transport personal items or moving boxes.
  • Specialised vehicles and applications: Clamping beams are also important in specialised vehicles such as motorhomes or when transporting sensitive equipment, where they help to keep loads stable and secure.
Key benefits:
  • Load protection: clamping beams prevent loads from shifting during transport, which could lead to damage or even loss.
  • Quick and easy to use: The easy handling and quick adaptability of clamping beams saves time and increases efficiency when securing loads.
  • Adaptability: Thanks to their adjustable properties, they can be used in a wide range of load compartment sizes, making them a universal tool for load securing.
  • Increased safety: By effectively securing the load, clamping beams also contribute to road safety by minimising the risk of accidents caused by loads sliding around.
Clamping beams are therefore essential load securing aids that not only increase efficiency and flexibility in handling transport tasks, but also make a significant contribution to safety. In the following section, we will look at how these clamping beams are installed and used to ensure maximum safety and effectiveness.

Installation and use of clamping beamsThe

correct installation and use of clamping beams is crucial for effective load securing. Proper handling not only ensures the safety of the transported goods, but also protects the transport vehicle and increases general road safety.

Step-by-step instructions for installation:
  1. Positioning: Select the appropriate location in the cargo area where the clamping bar is to be fitted. This depends on the type and shape of the load and the structure of the load compartment.
  2. Adjusting the length: Adjust the length of the clamping beam to the load compartment. Most clamping beams are telescopically adjustable so that they can be clamped precisely between the walls of the load compartment.
  3. Fixing: Use the clamping mechanism of the clamping beam to secure it firmly between the walls of the cargo space. Make sure that the beam is firmly secured and cannot slip.
Tips for optimum use:
  • Regular maintenance: Check the clamping beams regularly for signs of wear and damage. Replace damaged parts immediately to ensure safety.
  • Cleaning: Keep the clamping bars clean to maintain their functionality and longevity. Dirt and deposits can impair their effectiveness.
  • Staff training: Ensure that all staff involved in load securing are appropriately trained and know how to handle the clamping beams correctly.
Following these instructions on the installation and use of clamping beams will help to ensure that your load remains safe and stable throughout transport.
