What is a webbing?

Step-by-step instructions: Threading the webbing
1. Prepare the webbing
- Make sure the end of the ribbon is straight and not frayed.
- If necessary, cut the tape slightly diagonally to make insertion easier.
2. Lift the clamping lever
- Push the buckle lever up to open the lock.
- This creates an opening in the clamping mechanism.
3. Thread the webbing
- Thread the loose end of the strap through the buckle opening from bottom to top so that it comes out on the opposite side.
- Pull the band through until you have enough length to tighten it.
4. Tighten and check
- Tighten the strap firmly by hand.
- Release the clamping lever – the lock now clamps the strap securely.
- Test whether the band is secure by pulling gently.
Typical threading mistakes – and how to avoid them
- Strap inserted twisted : The strap must be guided smoothly through the buckle without any creases.
- Wrong direction : Always make sure that you thread the webbing from the correct side.
- Damaged buckle or strap : Cracks, rust, or frayed edges reduce safety. Check regularly!
Threading a webbing buckle – what types are there?
- Cam Buckle : For light to medium loads, easy to operate by hand.
- Ratchet : For high clamping forces, with mechanical lever.
