The strap is therefore always placed around the packaged goods (loop lashing) and then inserted back into the ratchet and tensioned. Lorry straps usually have a breaking load of 2500 daN (in a straight or linear pull). Tensioning straps with a lower breaking load are used, for example, in sea containers or on smaller lorries for loads weighing less than 2.5 tonnes.
According to the standard, belts are only ever labelled with the working load (LC - lashing capacity). The breaking load is usually twice this value - i.e. 5000daN for an LC 2500daN belt.
